BRIEF
Based on the success of Red Bull events, the Moonsport Entertainment team was tasked with the challenge to bring the 2022 Cape Town Red Bull Box Cart Race to life on the colourful streets of the Bo-Kaap. This setup needed to be one of a kind, hero the location and provide an experience never seen before with the Table Mountain and Signal Hill as backdrop.
RESULTS
Moonsport’s Entertainment team delivered a true Red Bull experience in South Africa for the fans.
One Epic race track with venue decks, judges stage and VIP setups
Over 50 teams
600 metre track with over 1,4km of hay bales
Over 22000 Cape Townians lined the streets
“The event was a great success, judging by the number of people in attendance. The atmosphere of the historical Bo-Kaap was incredible, it was beautiful to see the Red Bull Box Cart Race fit into its colourful character,” said 2009 Dakar Rally winner Giniel De Villiers. “It was a pleasure to be part of the judging panel and to see the intention and effort put into building the carts we judged.”
WHAT WE DID
Motorsport’s offering of production, event and entertainment meant it was able to handle all aspects of the Red Bull Box Cart Race including technical setup, event operations, athlete management, AV, safety protocols, programme running order, obstacle design & construction to provide an integrated experience for both broadcasters and fans trackside.
