Moonsport pulled off an unforgettable experience in the heart of Sandton with the Red Bull Showrun, headlined by Formula 1 legend David Coulthard. With over 20,000 spectators lining the streets, Coulthard zoomed down a custom-built racetrack, giving South Africa a thrilling taste of F1. The event blended epic excitement with a distinctly South African flavour, turning a bustling city centre into a racing spectacle. This event was 18 months in the making, and seeing it come to life was incredible. What made this event stand out? It wasn’t just about F1—it was the mix of our homegrown motorsport culture. Drifting may be global, but spinning is proudly South African. We had a local drifter, Chris Long, drift alongside Elias from The Drift Brothers. Sam Sam (Samkeliso Thubane), who is the newest member of the Red Bull athlete family (capped by David Coulthard in the week leading up to the Red Bull Showrun), added huge entertainment value as he took to the track flanked by three local spinners: Vaaitjie, Sushi, and Kayla. The four-way combo of drifting, spinning, biking, and F1 was pure magic and made this a dynamic event, topped off by pure F1 speed in the beautiful Oracle Red Bull Racing RB7. One of our most exciting moments? Having a Moonsport team member ride alongside the Drift Brothers, capturing the best event footage imaginable from the track! From Moonsport’s technical expertise to bold execution, from setting up millions of structures on time and within budget to curating a seamless, fun-packed show, we handled every detail with finesse. This was the biggest event we’ve ever tackled, and we couldn't be prouder of the team's achievement. To our client, Red Bull, we cannot thank you enough.
